African experts hail China's move to strengthen cooperation with Africa

XiSALUSAKA, Zambia, Dec. 05, 2015 (Xinhua) -- Experts on Saturday hailed China's decision to strengthen its cooperation with Africa through a rollout of 10 major China-Africa cooperation plans and an offer of 60 billion U.S. dollars of funding support.

Chinese President Xi Jinping announced in a keynote speech at the second summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Johannesburg, South Africa that his country will roll out 10 major programs to strengthen cooperation with Africa in the coming three year.

China Pledges U.S. $60 Billion in Development Support for Africa

PRETORIA, South Africa, December 05, 2015 (The East African) -- China President Xi Jinping on Friday announced his country would assist African states with loans to the tune of $60 billion.

He made the announcement when he addressed delegates at the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Sandton, Johannesburg.

Gazprom signs 8-year contract to buy all gas from Cameroon's FLNG plant

MOSCOW. November 30, 2015 (Interfax) - Gazprom Marketing & Trading Singapore Pte Ltd (Gazprom M&T), a subsidiary of Russian gas giant Gazprom (MOEX: GAZP), has signed an eight-year contract to buy all 1.2 million tonnes of gas to be produced annually by the Hilli floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) plant off the coast of Cameroon.

Germany Backs EAC With U.S.$226 Million Grant

ARUSHA, Tanzania, November 30, 2015 (EAB Week) — The Federal Republic of Germany has given the East African Community (EAC) 213 million euro, (about $226,462,000) in grants for the regional integration programmes.

"Integration is not a fair weather project. Germany would not be where it is today without economic cooperation with the rest of Europe. I can say that the 60 years of European cooperation have been a success story," Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the German Foreign Affairs Minister said last week.
