Russian Entrepreneur Ready to Tackle Health Problems in Rural Africa

MOSCOW, July 11, 2016 (Buziness Africa) -- A Russian medical research and production company is feverishly looking to export its latest medical technology and equipment to help tackle various health problems such as tuberculosis, malaria, HIV/AIDS and poliomyelitis, among others in remote rural areas of African countries, the Board Chairman of the Russian Agency for Telemedicine, Michael Ya Natenzon told the media in Moscow.

China’s role in improving public health in Cameroon

YAOUNDE, Cameroon, April 30, 2016 (FOCAC) -- Forty years ago, Cameroon and China embarked on south-south cooperation. Since then, positive statistics have been recorded at Cameroon’s Ministry of Public Health.

For instance, between 1965-2015, over one million Cameroonians have been treated by the Chinese and acupuncture successfully practiced on close to 250,000 people in the four major Chinese hospitals in Cameroon.

Medicine Manufacturing Firm Established in Gambia

BANJUL, Gambia, December 11, 2015 (The Point) -- Spanish investors have established a medicines manufacturing company in Brikama. The company, called Toskani Pharma Gambia Limited, was initiated by one Velino Nalabarder, a Spanish national.

The company is currently manufacturing various medicine products, including bendroflumthiaside B.P 5MG, metoclopramide tablets B.P 4mg, dyrochlororhiized B.P 25mg, pyrimenthamine tablets B.P 25mg captopril tables B.P 25mg, and atenolol tablets, among others.

Ebola: Avoiding Outbreak in other Parts of Africa

WASHINGTON, DC, November 19, 2014 (AWG) -- World Health Organization (WHO) latest figures indicate more than 14,000 Ebola cases and more than 5,000 reported deaths. These cases and deaths may represent only one third of morbidities and mortalities from Ebola, according to the WHO and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) due to a combination of at-risk populations shunning contact with health services, poor data collection mechanisms and weak health systems. The current global response effort is overwhelmingly focused on containing and eventually ending the 2014 Ebola outbreak in three West Africa hardest-hit countries: Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone. I briefly review how best to restrict possible outbreaks of the 2014 Ebola outbreak in other parts of the continent.
