Africa Should Also Donate to China

KAMPALA, Uganda, June 28, 2014 (The New Times) --- CHINA SAYS its relationship with Africa is a mutually beneficial one-a relationship of equal partners. In practice however, one is the giver and the other plays the receiving party; a lopsided association.

I felt more challenged than privileged when myself, Sunny Ntayombya, The New Times features editor, and thirty other scholarship beneficiaries from Africa and the Caribbean Islands graduated with a master in international communication. We were the third batch of a long term project in which China seeks to improve its image in Africa and other parts of the world through improved public-diplomacy.

MOSCOW, January 27, 2014 (TMT) -- The slogan of the Sochi Olympics — "Hot. Cool. Yours." — hits home for Zimbabwean alpine skier Luke Steyn, who will be representing his subtropical country in its first Winter Olympics.

"I don't think there has been any recorded snowfall in Zimbabwe in something like the last 40 years," the 20-year-old skier said in a telephone interview.

Chinese and Africans Strengthen Bonds of Friendship

HONG KONG, China, January 20, 2014 (Buziness Africa) - A new book titled "Africans in China: A sociocultural study and its implications for Africa – China Relations" by Professor Adams Bodomo, director for the African Studies Programme at the University of Hong Kong, has been published by the Cambria Press. The book is a new academic study highlighting the diverse socio-economic and cultural backgrounds of the new generation of Africans, most of them travelling to and forming communities in China.
