Education for $1 billion

MOSCOW, January 10, 2014 (RBTH) -- An influx of foreign students will help boost the level of Russian universities.

Despite Russian universities’ low international rankings, many foreigners continue to enroll in the country’s institutes. This year, the government has allocated more than $1 billion to raise the prestige of getting a Russian education.

Africa: A New Horizon for African-European Research Links

BRUSSELS, Belgium, January 10, 2014 (SciDev.Net) — For scientists across Europe, last month marked the official start of a fresh wave of funding opportunities from the European Union (EU).

On 11 December, the European Commission finally released the detailed topics and budgets available for the first two years of Horizon 2020, the EU's eighth research and innovation funding package, worth nearly €80 billion (around US$110 billion) in total from 2014 to 2020.

Big new UK assistance for Zambian education

LONDON, August 10, 2013 (PRNewswire Africa) - The UK will spend K315m supporting education in Zambia over the next three years. This will help bring UK aid to Zambia to its highest ever level. In total the UK expects to spend K560m on its development programme here in 2013. This is an increase of approximately 27% on spend in 2012.
