Mauritius Strengthens Tourism Infrastructure

Lesotho, May 20 (Afrol News) - Three new hotels were inaugurated by Mauritian Prime Minister Paul Bérenger, last week, bringing the island's total number of hotels to 101. The government is now aiming at further boosting the tourism infrastructure by setting up a Tourism Development Authority and rethinking Mauritius' marketing strategy.

Cape Verde Tourism Growing By 25% Annually

Cape Verde, April 30 (Afrol News) - The number of tourists entering Cape Verde has grown an average of 25 percent per year over the past four years. From 67,000 tourists in 2000, the figure jumped to 178,000 in 2004. These were some of the numbers announced by Cape Verde's Minister of the Economy, Growth and Competitiveness, João Pereira Silva, at the Intermunicipal Tourism Conference held recently on São Vicente.

Easier To Get Travel Visas To Libya


TRIPOLI, Libya, June 1 (Afrol News) - It will now get much easier to get a tourism or business visa to Libya, at least for British citizens, to start with. Libya, which hopes to develop its tourism sector and to attract foreign investments, has so far been very difficult to travel to due to complicated visa regulations.

Mauritius May Triple Tourist Arrivals

Mauritius, February 9 (Afrol News) - Prime Minister Navinchandra Ramgoolam of Mauritius holds that "Mauritius has the capacity, socially and physically, to receive over two million tourists a year," almost three times the number received in 2005. During the last few years, the Mauritian tourism sector had been stagnant, but growth returned in 2005.
