Kenya Woos Italian Investors to Set Up Holiday Homes

NAIROBI, Kenya, July 02, 2015 (Capital FM) — Kenya is seeking Italian investors to put up holiday homes in the country in a bid to increase tourism numbers and Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) in the country.

Tourism Cabinet Secretary Phyllis Kandie says this is among the investment options the country will be selling this month at the ongoing world expo 2015 taking place in Milan Italy until October.

Italians have heavily invested in the tourism sector especially around Malindi with organisations such as Finmeccanica and Clarion Merchandise already in Kenya.

Gambia: '25,000 Dutch Tourists Due in Banjul Next Season'

BANJUL, Gambia, June 01, 2015 (The Point) -- Ambassador Pieter Jan Kleiweg De Zwaan of the Embassy of the Kingdom of The Netherlands in Dakar has said that they expect about 25,000 Dutch tourists to come to The Gambia next season.

Ambassador Pieter, who was speaking at the Kairaba Beach Hotel on Wednesday during the signing of a bilateral air services agreement between the Gambia government and The Netherlands, said they are the second major contributor of tourists to The Gambia.

Tanzania Tourism Could Hit U.S. $16 Billion

TanrithDAR ES SALAAM, Tanzania, February 10, 2015 (EABW) — The World Bank has said Tanzania's tourism revenues could bulge four times from $4.48 billion in 2013 to $16 billion annually by 2025 if share benefits from the industry are equitably and evenly distributed to local participation but with quality.

Jacques Morisset, the World Bank Lead Economist said tourism is considered to be a high priority under President Jakaya Kikwete's development agenda, as well as that of the National Business Council.

Long-Awaited Hotel Grading Begins for 600 Hotels in Ethiopia

The Ministry of Culture & Tourism (MoCT), together with consultants from United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has started grading and accreditation of 200 hotels in Addis Ababa and 400 hotels in the rest of the country starting mid-January, 2015.
