China to Supply Solar Panels Countrywide

Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, (April 15) - REX Investment Limited (RIL) has signed an agreement with Chinese Suntech Company to distribute the one Mega Watts solar panels in Tanzania and neighbouring countries.


RIL Managing Director Francis Kibhisa said in Dar es Salaam today that the project is expected to take off next month, noting that the agreement caters for distribution in the local and neighbouring countries' markets.


"This is a great opportunity for our firm to supply the solar panels to cater for both domestic and corporate clients as well as expand our business to neighbouring countries... we would execute it perfectly," he said.


Mr Kibhisa said his firm was determined to serve mostly people in rural areas who are not connected to the national grid as well as providing them with technical advice on energy matters."


As the pioneers of renewable energy in Tanzania, Rex Investment Ltd believes that solar technology provides reliable, accessible and sustainable power solutions."


Mr Kibhisa said the firm aimed at increasing distribution to between two and five MW solar panels within the next year and cut up the cost by 30 per cent in the future.


The firm has been serving various customers including the government (both central and local) and public institutions, international aid agencies and NGOs, health centres and dispensaries, schools and educational centres, lodges and hotels, businesses and individuals.


Meanwhile, Kibhisa said his company is willing to expose companies and agents which distribute fake solar panels in the country.
