Oil Minister Reveals Belarusian President's Visit to Boost Cooperation

KHARTOUM, Sudan, October 29, 2016 (SNA) — The Minister of Oil and Gas Dr. Mohamed Awad Zayid has revealed forthcoming visit of the Belarusian President to Sudan during the coming period, explaining that the visit comes to push forward the political and economic cooperation between the two countries.

Dr. Awad stressed Sudan's keenness to develop the political and economic relations with the State of Belarus for the benefit of the two peoples.

This came during a meeting in his office Thursday with the Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Mr. Valentin Rybakov, who is visiting Khartoum these days to participate in the committee of political consultation between the two countries. The meeting discussed economic cooperation between the two countries in the light of the memoranda of understanding signed by the Higher Ministerial Committee headed by the Oil Ministers of the two countries in the field of oil, agriculture, higher education and scientific research through the provision of scholarship opportunities for the Sudanese side in addition to the cooperation in the industrial field, supply of vehicles, tractors and exchange of investments in all areas as well as the training of medical staff and opening of a market for Belarusian medicine in Sudan.

The Oil Minister underlined the need to develop the partnership to a wider horizons between the two countries in the field of agriculture and industry by taking advantage of industrial experience enjoyed by the State of Belarus in the field of oil, pointing to the development of political relations between the two countries, urging the need to remove all the obstacles preventing implementation of the agreements between the two parties.

For his part, Mr. Rybakov asserted his country's keenness on cooperation with Sudan in all fields, pointing to the importance of economic cooperation between the two countries and cooperation, particularly in the field of energy, explaining that if the agreements signed between the two parties are fully implemented, they will establish a new era of fruitful cooperation and will be a beginning for the development of commercial relations between the two countries, considering Sudan as a pivotal point for Belarus in openness towards Africa.
