Finland Envoy Visits Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Seeks Economic Ties

ABUJA, Nigeria, June 06, 2015 (Daily Trust) -- The Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria, Ms Pirjo Suomela-Chowdhury, has called for strong trade and economic relations between her country and Nigeria Suomela-Chowdhury made the call when she visited Mr Tony Ejinkonye, President of Abuja Chamber of Commerce.

The envoy said the aim of the mission was to seek for avenues for strong trade and economic relations with respective countries.

She said the embassy was poised to collaborate with the chamber to work on a synergy that will improve bilateral trade relations in respective countries.

She said there are many Finnish companies seeking to do business in Nigeria, especially in the health and well-being industries.

The envoy said that a one-day event was being organised by the mission to bring all stakeholders in the health and well-being industries together on November 3, 2015 in Lagos.

President of the Abuja Chamber of Commerce, Mr Tony Ejinkeonye, who appreciated the ambassador for the visit, said the chamber's focus during his tenure was to seek for trade cooperation between Nigerian businessmen and their foreign counterparts.

He said that Finland fell within the area where the chamber was yet to establish trade ties and urged the embassy and other interested companies in Finland to participate in the forthcoming Abuja International Trade Fair.

He said that this would provide a laudable platform for the Finnish to showcase their products and by doing that, the volume of businesses between the two countries will improve. (END)
