Russia and China Backing for Zimbabwe Scares West

HARARE, Zimbabwe, Sept 30, 2014, (New Zimbabwe) -- ZANU PF chairman and senior cabinet minister, Simon Khaya Moyo, has claimed that Chinese and Russian backing for Zimbabwe has left the West shaking in its boots as its agenda to force regime change in Harare collapses.

Khaya Moyo made the boast while addressing a press conference in Havana after concluding week-long visit to Cuba last week.

We are advised that the agreement was signed between the Director-General of state-owned Rosatom but on behalf of the Russian government and Ms Tina Joemat-Pettersen, our minister of Energy, at the 58th session of the Atomic Energy General Conference.

SA, Russia Sign Strategic Nuclear Energy Pact

VIENNA, Austria, Sept 23, 2014 (SA News) -- South Africa has signed an Intergovernmental Agreement on Strategic Partnership and Cooperation in Nuclear Energy and Industry with Russia.

The agreement lays the foundation for the large-scale nuclear power plants (NPP) procurement and development programme of South Africa. This will be based on the construction of new nuclear power plants in SA with Russian VVER reactors, with total installed capacity of up to 9.6 GW (up to 8 NPP units).
